Middle of the ocean

I was in the middle of the ocean!
Funny term, isn't it? "Middle of the ocean"
What does it mean?
For me, it was the place
where curvature of earth
took the land away from horizon.
The land, which contained my friends, my family, and me!

Yes! This was not me,
standing on an eternal stretch of clear water
with fishes visibly swimming underneath me.
A whole world below my feet!
And in that moment, I thought I was above everything!

But, the clouds thundered,
and reality struck me.

A storm was coming.
A storm that would rip me from head to toe,
A storm, that would leave me in bits and pieces all over the ocean
And there was no place to hide!

In hindsight, there was never a place to hide!
all the storms that life had my way,
I had survived them.
No, I had lived through them!
Each storm making me stronger and more ready for the next one.
I was ready for this final storm as well!

But, it never came!
Instead, a soothing rain came pouring down,
washing away all my sins, my fears and my insecurities.
I was confused.
My thoughts had stranded me just like the land,
The land, which contained my friends, my family, and me.

In that moment of haziness,
something solid materialized under my feet
and I was back on the shore,
looking for the spot, I was moments before,
but in vain.

I don't know if what I saw was a dream or reality
I don't know if such a place even exist
I don't know if that soothing rain is coming
All I know is, that is a place I want to be!
In the middle of the ocean.
